Daffodil Days - March 20, 2008
One of the many Community Projects that the J-MARt bp family takes part in is the American Cancer Society Daffodil Days. We have been a proud sponsor of this event for more than a dozen years. Daffodils will arrive this year on March 20, 2008.
Stop by our Wanatah or Westville location and bring the scent of spring and the Flower of Hope into your business or home. Brighten a friend or loved one's day with a fresh bouquet of flowers and help the American Cancer Society move closer to its ultimate goal - to eliminate cancer. All proceeds from Daffodil Days benefit the American Cancer Society's four pillars; Research, Education, Advocacy and Patient Service programs.
Wanatah Lions Club Easter Egg Hunt
The Wanatah Lions' Club Annual Easter Egg Hunt will be at Lions Park on Saturday, March 22nd at 1:00 PM.
Lions Club Pancake Breakfast
The Wanatah Lions' Club Pancake Breakfast will be Sunday, March 30 at the Wanatah School from 8 AM to 1 PM. Tickets are $5 for adults and $2 for children 6-12. Preschoolers are free. This all-you-can-eat breakfast features whole hog sausage. Carryouts will be available and arts and crafts will be for sale in the gym. Proceeds go toward local projects.

Using Your Tax Refund Wisely
According to the IRS, 75% of taxpayers will receive a refund this year. For many, a tax refund can be tempting to use to purchase a luxury item such as a new car or a big screen TV. Before you spend your tax refund on a big-ticket item, think about your current financial situation. Do you need to save for retirement or education? What is a wise long-term investment for your money? If you are getting a refund this year, consider putting the money to work for your future instead of spending the money now. Here are a few options you could choose to put that tax refund to work:
- Retirement Savings* - Most Americans can expect retirement to last 20 years. Are you ready? Use your refund to establish an IRA account or add to an existing retirement account.
- College Funding* - While the cost of college continues to increase, the importance of an education remains the same. Saving for your child's or grandchild's education now can help lessen the amount of loans and debt your graduate will face. 529 education plans offer benefits to the future student and the contributor.
- Emergency Fund* - Saving money can be difficult, but do you have three to six months of expenses saved in case of an emergency? Use your refund to build an emergency fund to help you with an unplanned event like a job loss or sudden illness.
- Future Purchase or Vacation Fund* - Not all investing has to be long-term. If in the next few years you are planning a large purchase or lengthy vacation, your 2007 refund can help you begin to save.

Chicken Dip
2 cans chicken drained, warm in skillet
1/2 cup RedHot sauce
2 packages of cream cheese
1 cup Kraft Ranch dressing
2 cups Cheddar cheese
Put ingredients in skillet one at a time starting with chicken, let get warm.
As each ingredient gets warm add the next and continue on until all ingredients are in and melted.
Put in crock pot to keep warm until ready to serve.
Serve with tortilla chips.
